From the Lebanon News October 6, 2010

"The Russell County Medical Center Foundation held a “Box Exchange” with the local lifesaving crews on Thursday. The RCMC Foundation purchased 23 new medical boxes with proceeds from the “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” celebration held in June. The deteriorating 20-year-old boxes contain medicine and other vulnerable medical supplies, and must be exchanged for the new boxes before they are used by the EMS crews. The old medical boxes will effectively be traded off one last time and disposed. “The boxes must undergo a thorough inspection and have met their end,” said Emergency Room Medical Director Dr. Norman Rexrode, who also serves on the RCMC Foundation Board. “We approached the foundation with hopes of replacing the old boxes, and within six months we’ve held an event, purchased the boxes and are now able to give our local EMS crews the boxes they deserve.”The RCMC Foundation, founded in July 2009, provides support to numerous causes that are of great importance to the people of this region. The generosity of individuals, businesses and other organizations within the community enables the Foundation to fulfill its mission of improving the quality of healthcare."

CFR would like to thank everyone involved in getting the county EMS agencies these new med boxes, and thank the members of our community that help to support us every day.
